This should be possible,

"The servlet doesn't leave the doGet() method after an invocation of 
actionType "connect"
keeping a permanent http connection."

so i believe any client opening a http request can receive further 
updates with the kept alive
http socket connection, see on server side
 
xmlBlaster/src/java/org/xmlBlaster/protocol/http/appletproxy/PushHandler.java

On client side see
 
xmlBlaster/src/java/org/xmlBlaster/client/protocol/http/common/PersistentRequest.java
this is the code you need to re-implement in another language.
