Ant is very powerful, and very extensible. The only the Ant can't
do out of the box right now for the build is the idl2java.
It does, however, allow custom tasks to be defined. I will look
into setting up a build enviornment using Ant, and get back to
the list.

Yes we need some cross platform support.
Have you experiences with ant?
Can we use jikes and shell scripts with ant?
Do you believe we should use ant?
